Operating Theatre Team Leader - Spire South Bank Hospital

Equivalent to Band 6/7 dependent on experience

Spire South Bank are looking for a dynamic, passionate Operating Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with scrub experience and deep knowledge of Ophthalmology to join our tight-knit team as an Ophthalmic Theatre Lead.

This is a critical role and alongside clinical duties, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor your team and act up as an operating Theatre Manager to cover leave.

You will also be provided with the opportunity to get hands-on with service development and continuous improvement and be pivotal in effecting change.

This is the perfect opportunity for a passionate and driven ODP or Operating Theatre Nurse to develop their leadership skills, earn managerial experience, and effect real change.

To achieve all this, you will have full support from your Operating Theatre Manager, alongside access to all the training and learning opportunities you need, including management and leadership CPD and access to a fully-funded Surgical First Assistant course.

Duties and responsibilities
• Carry out clinical duties including scrubbing
• Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practices
• Act up as a Theatre Manager in the event of leave
• Develop strategies and policies for service improvement.
• Develop own managerial and clinical knowledge and practice and assist others to continually professionally develop
• Delegate work to others

Our perfect candidate will be
• NMC or HCPC registered with no restriction
• Minimum 2 years post qualification experience
• Scrub skills
• Excellent communicator
• Deep knowledge in ophthalmology
• Leadership/managerial skills
• Ability to manage and prioritise both clinical and team lead duties
• Driven and passionate about effecting change and improving services

It will be a bonus if you
• Have experience of leading a team
• Experience of providing mentorship and support
• A managerial or leadership qualification
• Have acted up as a Theatre Manager
• Have ILS / BLS certifications
